OLA SÖDERSTRÖM is a professor of human geography at the University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland.

His research on urban development, urban forms, and urban living draws on visual studies, postcolonialism and science & technology studies. His recent research projects have analyzed the global mobility of urban forms and policies, the relations between urban living and psychosis and the provincialisation of smart cities in India and South Africa.

He is also involved in science and research funding policies. He regularly contributes to public debates on these different issues in newspapers, blogs, radio and TV interventions. Ola has been an editor of several significant books – 'Re-shaping Cities: How Global Mobility Transforms Architecture and Urban Form' (2009, Routledge), 'Critical Mobilities' (2013, Routledge), 'Cities in Relations: Trajectories of Urban Development in Hanoi and Ouagadougou' (2014, Wiley-Blackwell) and others.
