JONAS ŽUKAUSKAS is an architect based in Vilnius. Through research, curatorial and architectural projects he aims to create new relations between societies and their environment, past and future that is being shaped by two very different: linear soviet – and rhizomatic European long-term spatial models. Exploring the material, infrastructural and cultural connections that have persevered despite the political borders and conflict lines that have been laid throughout the Baltic region Jonas seeks to rearticulate architecture in a wider ecology of spatial practices.
Jonas Žukauskas received his Diploma from Architectural Association School of Architecture in London in 2014, previously studied at London Metropolitan University and Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts. In 2013 he co-curated 'Dissidence Through Architecture conversations' series at the National Gallery of Art in Vilnius. In 2014 he worked for MVRDV architects in Rotterdam. Jonas co-curated the 'Baltic Pavilion' – the joint exhibition that represented Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania at the 12th Architecture Biennale in Venice. In 2018 together with Jurga Daubaraitė, he curated 'Baltic Material Assemblies', the show and public events spanning AA Gallery and RIBA Practice Space in London.
